The Jefferson School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is a separate entity from Jefferson School yet exists solely for the benefit of Jefferson kids like yours. You may think that your tax dollars pay for most of a child’s education—that’s not the case—and you’ll be surprised at what isn’t covered by the Board of Education. That’s where the PTO comes in. In the last two years alone, the PTO has had to keep the kids up to date with technology by purchasing Chromebooks and document cameras. They’ve had to keep the library up to date by purchasing guided reading collections and book replenishments. The PTO has helped children beautify the school while teaching kids about teamwork and creativity through the mural and outdoor classroom projects and they’ve partnered with the BOE for gymnasium improvements (New floors, painting). In addition to these special projects, the PTO routinely funds assemblies, class trips, mini-grants for teachers and much more. These projects are funded through funds raised by the PTO and the PTO’s biggest fundraiser is the Jefferson Parent’s Night Out. At this outing, parent’s get together to socialize and raise funds through ticket sales, sponsorships, a silent auction and tricky tray. The money raised from this event goes directly to benefit your child.
